Day 3 - Filming in Suwalszczyzna and Goldap

On Wednesday, when the students had already prepared outlines for their commericals filming, our Comenius group set off to Suwalszczyzna and Goldap, places, where they filmed the first part of their commercials. SUWAŁKI LANDSCAPE PARK was created in 1976. It protects one of the most beautiful corners of the northeast Poland, not without reason called by tourists "local Switzerland". Indeed, its natural value and spectacular landscape make this region exceptionally idyllic and romantic. Topographically diversified lie of the land was formed - as well as the rest of Suwałki Lakeland - by the last Baltic glaciation from more than 10 000-12 000 years ago. Its action and the recession of the melting continental glacier shaped the Park's exceptionally varied configuration. You can adore high hills, picturesque lake basins, flowery valleys cut by numerous streams and deep river troughs especially of the Czarna Hańcza River. It crosses the deepest lake in Poland and in European Lowland, that is Lake Hańcza which is 108,5 m deep. We took a boat trip on the lake where some of the groups already started shooting. The weather was very british, unfortunatelly. But we survived and enjoyed ourselves nevertheless! :)

Presenting our national food

On Tuesday afternoon it was time for our Cooking shows. The students presented typical national cousine. We have learnt about food of Italy, Turkey, Poland and the Czech Republic. Of course, we also tasted some food brought by the students and teachers from different countries. It was very interesting and delicious! Good that we have the recipes and can cook it back at home!

Day 2 - Getting started in Suwalki

On Tuesday morning we all met at Zespól szkól nr 8 Gimnazjum nr 1 in Suwalki. There were already many activities prepared for us. First, we met the headmaster of the school. Then, we went on a guided school tour where we could learn interesting things about education in Poland. We compared and talked about the differences in Polish, Czech, Turkish and Italian education. The school tour was priceless not only for the students but also for the teachers who then discussed about the questions and answers of our research. Later the students were divided into six internationally mixed groups where they started to work on their ideas for commericals, that we are going to shoot in Poland. It was a brainstorming activity and the students came up with many interesting ideas. Then, the Polish teacher Maggie came up with a "Dwarf hunting" sightseeing tour in Suwalki. Thank you for that! We enjoyed the tour around this town.

Italian students wrote about their Turkey experience

As time was getting closer we were looking forward to the moment of our departure, but mostly to seeing again our partners. This experience was very important for us. The best tour was the one to Alsancak, where we visited the clock tower, we loved it. We walked around the city market, and we stepped inside the mosque. After, we have visited Bergama, where we shot the videos about the legends we performed that came from different countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey and Italy. It is a very different city from where we were with our friends in Izmir. Some Bergama's places are older and they aren't as beautiful as Izmir's places but we liked it. Then we went to Ephesus; we shot there as well our films each one with its own international group, and we visited the small bazaar of the city. We enjoyed it very much, and during the week we spent in Turkey, we also made new acquaintances with guys from Poland and the Czech Republic. The school was giant and there were different classes, different laboratories, there was the canteen, and many other things. The school in Izmir is more beautiful, interesting and bigger than our school at San Cataldo. We loved it! In the evening, we went many different places with our partners, laughing and having a beautiful time the days flew away. We took the ferry and we visited for second time Alsancak. We talked a lot. During the week we went to the waterfront. It was a great week! The families we stayed with were great and they made all the possible to make us feel at home. We tasted a lot of different food. Some was very tasty and delicious, but sometimes too spicy. All the people we met were very friendly and they helped us whenever we had any need. We love them!!! We can't wait to see them again. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. Annamaria, Alexia, Alessia.
